Definitions, characteristics and application of the legal norms
Cookies are small text files that websites send and record on your computer or mobile device, in order for them to be then retransmitted to the same websites the following time that you access them. It is precisely thanks to the cookies that the website remembers the actions and preferences of the user (such as, for instance, log in data, the chosen language, the font size, other viewing settings etc.) so that they do not have to be indicated by the user on every single visit to a website or when the user switches from one page of a website to another.
There are various types of cookies, categorised according to their characteristics and functions, and these may be stored in the user’s computer or mobile device for varying periods of time: the so-called session cookies are automatically cancelled when the browser is closed; the so-called permanent cookies remain on the user’s devices for a predetermined time.
Additionally, “analytics cookies” (“first-party cookies” or “proprietary cookies”) do not require the user’s consent if they are used directly by the website owner in order to gather information, in aggregate form, on the number of users that visit the website and on how they interact with it. Finally, “functional cookies”, which enable the user to browse the website according to a series of selected criteria (for example, language, products selected for purchase) in order to improve the service provided to the same user, are also exempt from the requirement of consent.
By contrast, “profiling cookies”, i.e. those aimed at creating a profile of the user for targeted advertising in line with the preferences shown by the same user in his or her internet browsing, require the prior consent of the user.
Types of cookies used by the Website and the possibility of enabling/disabling them
The website uses the following types of cookies and offers the user the possibility of enabling/disabling them, except for third-party cookies, for which the user is advised to refer to the enabling/disabling methods offered by the managers of respective managers of the cookies (see “third party cookies” below):
- Technical cookies – browsing or session cookies – are used exclusively with a view to carrying out the transmission of a communication on an electronic communications network, or insofar as this is strictly necessary to the provider of an information society service that has been explicitly requested by the contracting party or user to provide the said service;
- Profiling cookies – used to trace the user’s navigation online and to create profiles regarding their preferences, habits, choices, etc. These cookies may send advertisements to the user’s terminal in line with the preferences the user has shown during their navigation online
- Functional cookies – allow users to navigate as a function of certain pre-determined criteria such as language or products to be purchased so as to improve the quality of service;
WARNING: Disabling technical cookies or functional cookies may result in the website not functioning correctly or in some services or features of the website being unavailable; the user may be required to edit or insert manually some information every time that the website is accessed or whenever the page of the website is switched.
In particular, the cookies used on the Website are indicated in the following table

The user can select which cookies to authorise, according to the procedure of the Website, as well as which cookies to authorise, block or delete (in whole or in part) according to the procedures of the browser used.
However, in the event that all or some cookies are disabled, it may be that the Website will not function correctly or some services or features of the website may be unavailable; the user may be required to edit or manually insert some information every time that the website is accessed or whenever the page of the website is switched.
For more information, we advise you to use your browser’s “Help” button for more details.
It is possible for the user to make a choice and specifically indicate which cookies to authorise.
The user should be aware that disabling technical cookies may result in the impossibility of using the services provided through the Website or viewing its content.
Disabling functional cookies may result in some services or features of the Website becoming unavailable and the user may be required to edit or insert manually some information every time that the website is accessed or whenever the page of the website is switched.
Disabling third party cookies will not have any effect on the functionality of the website; however, given that such cookies are managed exclusively by third parties and that the owner of this Website does not have any control on how these are submitted, therefore, the user will have to disable such cookies by following the procedures set out by the third-party providers or by setting up the preferences from the own browser. The links to the Privacy Policies and to the procedures for enabling/disabling third-party cookies can be found in the paragraph above.
With regards to the cookies directly managed by the owner of this Website, the user is able to block the cookies, in whole or in part, by means of the procedure available on this page or by means of the options of the specific browser used (in this respect, see the paragraph above).
The choices that the user makes regarding the cookies will be registered in a specific technical cookie, with the characteristics of such, as presented in the cookie table above. Such a cookie could malfunction under some circumstances (for instance, if all technical cookies are disabled). In such cases, we advise the user to delete the unwanted cookies and to disable them following the procedure set out by the browser.
The user preferences regarding cookies have to be set separately for each device or browser that is used to access the Website.
Do not require the prior consent of the user in order for them to be employed.
